Economic Sleepwalking

We live in state of economic sleepwalking believing we have no alternatives to the current economic way of life. We investigate, criticise, and explore - but do not stop long enough to ask - is this a must?

We are borne into the system, accept it and will even fight to stay in it.

We accept this is the way and that the future will be an extension of the present with more tools and technology to make us more productive, and more efficient, to stay on track in the capitalist mode until we burn out or reach our goal of replacing ourselves.

Are you your job, your possessions, your nation, your people, your education? Are there better alternatives. We explore ways to make capitalism or socialism better, but underlying this is one word - “profit”.

”Modern consumers may identify themselves by the formula: I am = what I have and what I consume," Fromm wrote.

We might revise: “Profit = I am = what I have and what I consume”. A formula worth destroying and replacing - With what?

Our economic system is akin to a cult - dogmas and fear and preachers, and excommunication of the non-believers. A Cult which transcends religion and culture and nationality.

Every day we wake and inventory what we have to find out who we are.
